Patients battling many different forms of cancer can find both physical and emotional care for themselves and their families at St. Bernards Ben E. Owens Cancer Treatment Center. We are accredited by the American College of Surgeons and offer programs covering the diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of cancer care including prevention, early detection, research, inpatient treatment, radiation therapy, outpatient care, art therapy and data collection.

• Staffed by board-certified radiation oncologists, radiation physicists, a certified medical dosimetrist, registered radiation therapist and nurses.
• The staff utilizes the latest in treatment planning computers with 2D/3D and inverse planning available. A simulator and high-energy linear accelerators with both electron and photon beams are available to treat cancer.
• External beam therapy along with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Radiation, and both low dose (LDR) and high dose (HDR) brachytherapy is offered.
• The Auxiliary House is available to provide overnight accommodations for patients who must travel long distances for treatment.

• After the patient is discharged from the hospital, information about the quality of life after cancer treatment and additional treatment is stored in records in the Oncology Data Center.
• A Cancer Report containing types of cancers seen, number of patients, origin of patients, and other information is published annually and is distributed to physicians throughout Northeast Arkansas.
• Information is maintained on all cancer patients treated. Data regarding the patient is stored and periodic follow-up is done and recorded in what is called an abstract. For each patient, the abstract contains information such as age, gender, pertinent medical history, and types of therapy used to treat the patient such as surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
