From the Cardiologist's Wife - A Contest to Celebrate Her 100th Post
Jan 31, 2013

Today is the 100th post I’ve written for jonesboro.com and to celebrate, I’m announcing a contest for my readers. I’m always interested in hearing the stories of people who have overcome their health problems by changing their diet, exercising, quitting smoking, etc. If you have a story to share, send it to me. The lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice or to their favorite sporting goods store like Gearhead or Sports Academy, plus have their story published on jonesboro.com. Simply follow the rules below carefully.

Send your story of 50 words or less to lltedder@suddenlink.net. Be sure to put “contest entry” on the subject line.

Please don’t enter if you are not willing to share your story online at jonesboro.com for everyone to read.

Please include your name, phone number and email address in the first few lines of your email. Write enough compelling details about your health problem, what motivated you to change, how you overcame it and what you are doing now to stay healthy. Tell us how it feels to be healthier.

Only one entry per person, please. Don’t flood my inbox by sending multiple entries; that won’t help you win.

Don’t worry if you are a friend of mine or work with my husband. This is one contest not closed to anyone but my immediate family. I’m looking for a good story.

The deadline to enter is February 15th and I will announce a winner by the end of February.

The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate as mutually agreed upon (see first paragraph) which I will mail to him or her.

The winning story will be selected by me so judging is entirely subjective. I’m looking for someone who recognized a problem and worked hard to fix it. If you broke your arm falling off your roof and had surgery to repair it, that’s not what I had in mind. If you smoked like a fiend but finally got sick and tired of being sick and tired and changed your ways, send me your story. If you were the fat kid in school who was always picked on but you lost weight and got in shape, write it down and press send. If the doctor said, “You are going to die if you don’t change.”, share it with me. If someone close to you had a serious health problem that forced you to take a long hard look at your own life, share that story too. If you had cancer and are now in remission due to chemo treatments, I’m happy for you but that isn’t quite what I have in mind. The stories I’m looking for need to show how you personally changed to improve your health. But if you had a skin cancer scare that included a biopsy and now wear protective clothing and sunscreen when before you went to tanning beds, that is what I want. I’m looking for stories that will inspire others to get up, get moving, take responsibility and get healthy. Good luck and I look forward to reading your stories.
