NEA Baptist Clinic Welcomes Akin to Internal Medicine

Gordon Akin, MD, a board certified internal medicine physician with 27 years of experience in the field, recently joined NEA Baptist Clinic Internal Medicine. Dr. Akin is accepting new patients at the internal medicine department, located at 311 E. Matthews Ave in Jonesboro. He provides long-term comprehensive care, managing both common and complex illnesses of adolescents, adults and the elderly.


Dr. Akin received a bachelor of arts in chemistry from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. He then went on to complete his doctor of medicine at University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR, where he also completed his internship and residency.


Dr. Akin has worked as an internal medicine physician and hospitalist for group practices, including the VA Tennessee Valley Health System and in a private practice over the years. He also served as the supervising physician for Operation Enduring Freedom – Operation Iraqi Freedom.


Internal medicine physicians are trained in the essentials of primary care, which incorporates an understanding of wellness, disease prevention, substance abuse, mental health, and treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, and reproductive organs.
