“Eat Well, Live Better” NEA Baptist Announces Farmers Market
Jun 10, 2014

NEA Baptist will offer their first ever Farmers’ Market as a way to promote healthy living. With a goal to Eat Well, Live Better, the NEA Baptist Farmers’ Market will offer local produce and hand –made items. The market will be located on the southwest corner of the new medical campus, allowing easy access for the public and employees.

“We are excited to offer this avenue of healthy lifestyle choices to our community,” said Darrell King, CEO of NEA Baptist Clinic, “Our hope is that we can help people to realize the importance of eating right and provide easy access to recipes and food. Taking steps in the improvement of their own lives leads to less chronic disease and better health.”

The Farmer’s Market will take place from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm on the second Thursday of each month from June through September. Local vendors will be setup in the parking lot selling everything from produce to handmade items. There will also be educational information about the prevention of chronic illnesses and diseases, various screenings, exercise demonstrations and an area for kids to play and create.

Brad Parsons, CEO and administrator of NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital also added that, “Our health system is really focusing on the health of our employees. We recently began a walking trail exercise plan for employees and visitors. Now, we are able to provide means for them to easily access local produce for them to use in their meal planning.”
