Garland County Waste Department Implements SynTel’s AutoMail to Maximize Postage Savings, Improve Customer Service
Nov 30, 2010
JONESBORO, ARK.- Garland County, Hot Springs Solid Waste Division, has implemented SynTel LLC’s AutoMail® to ensure the utility receives maximum postage discounts when mailing customer bills and statements. AutoMail is mail automation software that functions as a mail pre-processor and verifies addresses, presorts the mailing, calculates and quantifies postage and reduces the work involved in preparing statements through manifesting.

Garland County’s Waste Division selected AutoMail following the selection of a new billing system.  The county’s postage machine manufacturer, Pitney Bowes, recommended the utility consider SynTel due to the integration AutoMail has with their printing and sorting systems.

“We implemented SynTel’s AutoMail to ensure we received the maximum postage discounts after installing a new billing system,” said Carol Hubbard, controller for Garland County, Hot Springs Solid Waste Division. “The software is very easy-to-use, and it does the work, so that we don’t have to waste man hours on postage and mailing.”

Hubbard added that in addition to AutoMail’s functionality, the support and training SynTel provides ensures the county gets the maximum value out of the software.

AutoMail reduces postage expenses by up to 25 percent, which is a non-interest expense that goes back to the bottom line. The software fits seamlessly into the document production environment, eliminating the need for third party processors and allowing Garland County to secure sensitive customer information. AutoMail also enables the utility to calculate dissimilar weight mail pieces and assign the appropriate postage.

“County and city governments have a responsibility to ensure they are running their operations as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible,” said Harry Herget, co-founder and director of marketing for SynTel.  “AutoMail delivers immediate cost savings that go directly to the bottom line, reducing not only the monetary cost of postage, but also the time spent preparing and sorting bills and statements.”
