Arkansas State University Announces Spring 2011 Enrollment at All-Time Record
Jan 31, 2011
Arkansas State University today announced an all-time record spring
enrollment with an unduplicated headcount of 13,239 undergraduate and graduate students for the Jonesboro campus. It represents an increase of 843 students (6.8%) compared to spring 2010 enrollment numbers. Spring enrollment numbers have shown a steady increase since 2006.

Interim chancellor Dr. G. Daniel Howard stated, "I am thrilled that ASU enrolled the highest number of students for the spring semester in its history, including more Arkansans than ever beforeā€¦ ASU graduated more than 900 students in December (the largest December graduation) and yet the spring numbers were 7.3 percent higher than last spring."

The total undergraduate headcount was 9,528 for spring 2011. Undergraduate student enrollment includes 8,227 Arkansas resident undergraduate students, and 911 non-resident U.S. undergraduate students.

Dr. Rick Stripling, vice chancellor for Student Affairs, noted, "The record
enrollment further signifies that ASU is headed in an upward trajectory. The leadership of interim chancellor Dr. Dan Howard is, without a doubt, a major factor in the achievement of this milestone. The combination of
increased admissions standards and expanded international enrollment in both undergraduate and online courses reinforces ASU's strength and stability at a time when educational institutions throughout the U.S. are dealing with budget cuts. We believe this will instill confidence in potential students who are considering ASU, and their parents as well. We anticipate this will have a positive impact on the next several recruiting cycles."
