Poinsett County leaders ready to bring their communities Out of the Dark.
Aug 12, 2011

August 12, 2011 – (Jonesboro, AR) – This week the Harrisburg School Board approved Mayor Mills’ request to use the Harrisburg High School Fine Arts Center for a countywide public meeting to discuss the creation of a Poinsett Out of the Dark Coalition. The meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 23, 2011, starting at 7:00 p.m. and will be open to families and businesses from every community located in Poinsett County.

Over the past several months Poinsett County leaders from Weiner, Marked Tree, Trumann and Harrisburg have been talking with Out of the Dark representatives about bringing the Out of the Dark Movement to their communities in their local fight against chemical addiction.

“We are excited to work with the families and business leaders in Poinsett County to establish their Poinsett Out of the Dark Coalition”, said OD Chairman Skip Mooney, Jr. “I believe that they are serious about changing the drug environment in their communities and we intend to do whatever is needed to help them, if they are. I guess we will find out at this meeting,” added Mooney.

The Out of the Dark Movement was started in Jonesboro, Arkansas, in September of 2008 after several people felt the need to address the horrible impact that chemical addiction was having in every sector of their community. The grass roots movement is based upon a new “Local Level Up” community model that has been developed by Out of the Dark Inc. and the volunteers of the Craighead Out of the Dark Coalition. The model networks communities to provide a united community front to address all of their local drug issues with local action plans and it is considered by many across the state as the “gold standard” for fighting chemical addiction one community at a time.
