Jan 15, 2012

By Lisa Turner

"Fast" Fredi Knighten, the Pulaski Academy record-breaking quarterback who led his team to its first undeafeated season and its third state title, committed to the Arkansas State University Red Wolves today.

"Howl yes!! Im gonna be a red wolf! #RunningWithThe Pack," Knighten tweeted Saturday night during his visit to Arkansas State.

Knighten was honored with the Landers Award Thursday night, presented by KATV in Little Rock to the top high school footballer in Arkansas. He was among 14 other weekly finalists competing for this year's 12th annual award. Past winners include Damian Williams, Darren McFadden, Peyton Hillis, Tyler Wilson and Michael Dyer.

Knighten, who passed for 4,559 yards and 66 touchdowns this season, had previously said he was also considering Louisiana Tech.
