Broken Chains: A Faith Based Approach to the Prevention of Drug Addiction

On Saturday, November 3, 2012, the Out of the Dark Coalition will host “Broken Chains: A Faith Based Approach to the Prevention of Drug Addiction. The regional all faith based conference will be held in the Centennial Hall at the ASU Student Union.

 

The conference is for religious leaders, ministers, youth leaders, children ministry leaders and concerned members of all communities of faith in Craighead County.

 

The conference will provide 4 programs and 4 workshops to provide the tools that that leaders of faith need to help address chemical addiction issues, a growing epidemic in our communities.

 

The conference objectives are:

 

Ø To provide current education for religious leaders about the illness of chemical addiction and its resulting collateral damage to better serve their congregations.

Ø To help prepare leaders of faith on how to develop and implement effective prevention programs for drug addiction (especially prescription medicines in our youth) in our communities of faith.

Ø To form an ongoing working faith based network to take a public leadership role in our communities to help address a growing local epidemic.

 

Pre-registration cost is $15.00 prior to October 27th and $20.00 afterwards (lunch included). Door registration is $20.00 (lunch depends on availability)

 

Conference sign in is 8:30 am to 9:00 am. The conference is scheduled to conclude at 3:00 pm.
