Little Hands - The Scoop on Consignment Sales
Feb 19, 2013

I know that as a girl, I'm kind of predisposed to enjoy shopping. Somehow, I actually missed that gene. I'm not a fan of shopping, and that's never more unfortunate than when you have little ones that are growing so fast that they need a completely new wardrobe each season.

This is the main reason I am so grateful for the consignment sales around our area. Not only do you have the opportunity to buy barely worn, cute clothes at a fraction of the cost, but because they're seasonal, I can get half a year's wardrobe at one time. That makes this budgeting, non-shopping lover mama very happy. What's great also is how picky they really are about accepting clothes. Clothes must be clean, in-season, in style, stain free and free from any pet or smoke odors. I checked over clothes I was selling several times last year and obviously my lights aren't as great as their's because they rejected 50 percent of my clothes because of small stains. I was so impressed that they were able to catch things I had completely missed, and I was grateful because I knew I wouldn't have to worry about things I bought. They also have furniture, toys, baby gear, DVDs, books and more. My girls always end up going home with a small stack of puzzles and books. If you have little ones, it's definitely worth your time to check out the children consignment sales in our area each spring and fall. I volunteer early at one of them to guarantee an extra early shopping time to pick through the clothes before a huge rush.

In our area, the sales (that I know of) are Rhea Lana that happened this week and is still going on at the Rowsey building! Popsicles - that will start next week at the old Rowsey building.

Twinkle Twinkle Sale that begins April 17 at Fellowship Bible Church gymnasium beside Big Lots.

All of these sales have great websites that you can find lots of information if you have anymore questions or want to sell some of your things or volunteer.

Happy Twice a year shopping!

Until next time,
Heather
