The Southerner and the City's Red Carpet Facial
Aug 15, 2013

If you keep up with red carpet beauty secrets, then you may be familiar with what is referred to as the red carpet facial. Joanna Vargas and Tracie Martyn are the two aestheticians that are mentioned when it comes to this procedure. The red carpet facial lifts and tightens if only for a a few days without the use of any needles or injections.

During a trip a few years ago down to Miami, I booked myself an appointment at the spa a Fountainbleu where Tracie Martyn offerred her services. Martyn’s main office is in New York City. The facial uses micro-current and LED light which lifts and tones the face. My skin looked fantastic!

A few months ago, at home in New York City, I booked myself an appointment at Joanna Vargas for her version of the same facial. The results were again amazing. The secret in my opinion is the combination of the micro current, light and oxygen that is infused into the skin. Again, my skin looked fantastic.

There are a few devices you can use at home to get similar results. I bought the Nu Face several months ago. It uses the micro current technology to lift and tighten the skin. It is a commitment to use it though, but it does work. You can also pop off the micro current end of the device and pop on an LED light attachment. You get the same effect without having to go to the spa!

For my readers in Jonesboro, the good news is that you can get this very same facial without having to travel to New York City. Jay Burns at the Jagged Edge has been doing this facial on me for many years. She is my go-to person for any facial procedure I need when I am in Arkansas. Jay has worked as an aesthetician for many years and is always up to date on the latest treatments and products. Even better news - you won’t be dropping a huge sum of money either! These red carpet facial cost upwards or $400 if you use Vargas or Martyn . Of course, I DID NOT USE either, but opted for an in house aesthetician for a heck of a lot less!

I highly recommend you give her a call and ask her to “do what she does to DJ”! She will know exactly what you are talking about. It is a combination of micro current, ,LED light therapy and an oxygen treatment. You’ll leave looking like you are ready to hit the town or the red carpet if Hollywood is calling!

Keep up with DJ on twitter @mrsdjduckworth. Like her on Facebook at I AM DJ Duckworth. And set your eyes on her funny photos on Instagram! DJ is a contributing writer for New York Family magazine. She lives in Manhattan - when she isn’t traveling - with her two boys and the world most famous wiener dog, Leo - woof, woof!
