Event Description: The JDRF One WalkTM is the flagship fundraising event for JDRF, and is the largest T1D event in the world, having raised more than $1 billion dollars since its inception. Funds are raised by individual and team walkers obtaining donations from family, friends and neighbors. Monies are also raised through corporate sponsorship and the sale of JDRF paper sneakers at retail outlets. The 2014 Walk welcomed over 800 people and raised over $74,000! The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications through the support of research. JDRF is the leading global organization focused on T1D research and, since its inception in 1970, has provided more than $1.9 billion to diabetes research. More than 80% of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research education.
