The Muslim Student Association is pleased to invite you to the lecture by Amad Shakur in commemoration of Black History Month.  His lecture will be about the African diaspora and early American Muslim history on the Feb 16th, 6 PM at Centennial Hall, 3rd Floor, Student Union. The event is open for the public.

The lecture will be for 45 min followed by Q&A. Please see the attached flyerMr. Shakur will be in campus on the 15th and 16th. He is interested to meet with faculties and for class group visits. Please contact msa.asuj@gmail.com or 870-882-1292 if you would like to participate.

 

 Amad Shakur is Founder and Director for the Center for the African Diaspora, Charlotte, North Carolina, and Director of Development for the Museum of Muslim Cultures and Senior Consultant for Unity Productions Foundation, a Washington DC film company. He currently hosts the “Open Forum on American Muslim 360 Radio. As Director he lectures to museum and gallery audiences. The museum is currently featuring a traveling Islamic exhibit “The Golden Legacy of Timbuktu, Wonders of The Written Word”. The exhibit features original African manuscripts covering a period from the ninth to the fifteenth centuries in Timbuktu, Mali. Mr. Shakur was formerly Executive Director for the Shahan Institute, an Islamic research foundation and think tank and former host of TVs “Islam In View”.  where in-depth interviews on a variety of Islamic and community- oriented topics were discussed. Mr. Shakur lectures on Islamic social and cultural affairs, Islamic Spain, African American and African Islamic history.
