ASU - Jonesboro:  Dr. Jack Zibluk, ASU journalism professor, to offer photo workshop
April 8 as part of Delta Symposium XVII
Delta Symposium XVII: The Delta in Print, Image, and Sound, will host a photography
workshop on  Friday, April 8.  Dr. Jack Zibluk, Arkansas State University professor of 
journalism, will offer "Photographic Documentation in the Delta: Visual and Multimedia 
Narratives," from 8-9:45 a.m. in the Pine Tree Room, ASU's Reng Student Services 
Center/Student Union, 101 N. Caraway Road, Jonesboro. 
 
Dr. Zibluk will emphasize skills used by documentarians on developing a visual
narrative, but the workshop will also include opportunities to discuss composition,
lighting, camera equipment and other techniques useful for anyone who wishes to
improve his or her photographic skills. The workshop is free, but due to space
limitations, pre-registration is required. For more information and to register,

Dr. Zibluk teaches photography, photojournalism, news design, desktop publishing,
and news writing at ASU. He has worked as a reporter and editor for newspapers in
Connecticut and for The Memphis Commercial Appeal. He was National Geographic
magazine's Faculty fellow in 2002, and in 2005, he won the National Press
Photographers Association's top educator's award, the Robin T. Garland Award. Dr.
Zibluk also formerly served as chair of the NPPA national student photo contest and
the NPPA internship bank. He was also the NPPA national vice president. Dr. Zibluk
is a published scholar and ethics columnist for News Photographer magazine. 
Most recently, Dr. Zibluk attended the Kalish Workshop, sponsored by the National
Press Photographers Association, at Ball State University, Muncie, Ind. There, he
learned audio, video and multimedia production techniques from such experts as
award-winning producer Brian Storm, president of MediaStorm, a multimedia production
studio in New York, and Geri Migielicz, executive editor of Story4 multimedia production 
studio and former award-winning multimedia editor at The San Jose Mercury News.
