“Hearts in Tuscany” - Jonesboro Heart Guild Spring Event
to Raise Funds for Heart Disease Education and Research
JONESBORO, AR – On April 13, 2012, area supporters are invited to the
Jonesboro American Heart Association’s spring event, “Hearts in Tuscany,”
to help raise funds for education and research and to help build healthier
lives that are free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Heart disease
and stroke are the number one and number four killers of Americans,
claiming more than 870,000 American lives. More than 79 million Americans have some sort of cardiovascular disease.
The Jonesboro Heart Guild’s 2012 spring event has been coordinated
entirely by a committee of dedicated volunteers, led by co-chairs Marsha
Carwell and Emily Gairhan. In addition to a large silent auction, the
ticket price will include dinner, drinks and live entertainment. The guild
will recognize Caitlyn Bradley as the Heart Child Honoree. In memory of
Wayne Harris, the guild will also recognize Harris’ widow, Becky, as well
as Harris’ children, Jerri Sparks, Mandy Harris and Joey Harris, as the
Heart Gala Honorees. The event will take place at the Cooper Alumni Center
on the Arkansas State University Campus. Attire is casual chic.
This year, the heart guild is honored to feature the artwork of Dr. Scott
Hoke on its invitations, program cover and at the event itself.
“Although I started with pencil and watercolor three years ago, I am
painting with oil exclusively now,” said Hoke. “My source of inspiration
comes mainly from local artists. My clinic is currently my gallery, where
encouragement and criticism from patients, physicians, pharmaceutical
representatives and nurses are common. I graduated from Hendrix College in 1983 and would like to have an on campus art show there one day.”
Hoke has been in private practice (family medicine) since 1990 in
Jonesboro with NEA Baptist Clinic. He and his wife, Mary Beth, have four
children, Nicole, Joseph, Matt and Sara (husband Kevin).
