Summer Camp Grades 7th-9th
About Howl 4 Health:
Howl 4 Health Summer Camp is a program targeted at young teens to share hands-on activities that educate youth on how to maintain or imporve healthy development through the teenage years. The camp will focus on healthy eating and exercise, safety issues common for the age group, coping strategies for emotional well-being, injury prevention techniques, as well as interactive demonstrations of the effects of drugs, alcohol, texting and driving, risk taking behaviors and the dangers of social media.
The camp is sponsored by the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Arkansas State University and offers a diverse group of facilitators to lead young teens toward a healthier lifestyle. Faculty from the departments of nursing, social work, physical therapy, communication disorders, medical laboratory science, nutritional science/dietetics and disaster prepardness and emergency management will be on hand and directly involved in guiding the camper through this fun and action-packed week of experiences.

- Nutrition for Peak Performance (Eating for the mind and body)
- Building Strong Friendships (Navigating the Path to Independence)
- Successful Self Techniques (Joining a "Circle of Courage")
- Put Out the Fire (Fireworks, sun and bonfire safety)
- Sports Injury Prevention (How to Stay in the Game)
- House Rules (Home Alone and Staying Safe)
- Common Tennage Illnesses (Making Healthy Choices)
Hands-on Activities:
- Driving Safety
- Virtual Dementia Simulation
- Daily Exercise Bootcamp
- Hearing, Blood Typing and Blood Glucose Monitoring
- Making Healthy Snacks
- Courage, Kindness and Strength Team Building Strategies
- Making a Home Action Plan
What to Bring:
Wear comfortable clothing, sneakers, sunscreen, and bring any emergency medications (such as an Epi-pen, inhalers, or insulin.)
The Camp will conclude with a graduation ceremony from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 14. Parents and family are invited.

Payment Information:
Payments must be made by check or credit/debit to the cashier's office. They will provide you with a receipt. A copy of the receipt must accompany the registration form. You can make the payment in person at the Reng Student Center, 2nd Floor. Or you can mail the payment with a copy of the registration form to:
