NEA Baptist Clinic Luncheon Focuses on Diabetes
Jonesboro, Ark., May 21, 2014 – On Wednesday, June 4, 2014, Kevin Ganong, MD, endocrinologist at NEA Baptist, will be the highlighted speaker at the quarterly luncheon series: A Talk on Diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes is quickly becoming an epidemic in the United States. According to the American Diabetes Association, someone is diagnosed with diabetes every 17 seconds with a staggering total of 25 million children and adults diagnosed. Since nearly 80 million people have prediabetes; education and prevention is key to avoiding Type 2 Diabetes.
The doors will open at 11:30 am in order for participants to browse booths with health education resources before the program begins at 12 pm. Booths will have information on nutrition, exercise, diabetes management, wellness programs, and more. There will be a question and answer session with Dr. Ganong after the presentation. The luncheon will be held at Southwest Church of Christ, 1601 James Street, Jonesboro.
Tickets for the luncheon are complimentary but required for entry. They can be picked up at the NEA Baptist Clinic Wellness Center, located at 2617 Phillips Drive, or any NEA Baptist Clinic location in Jonesboro. For more information, call 870-936-0260.
Dr. Ganong has been in practice for 20 years and is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism and internal medicine. After graduating with a medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, he completed an internship at Keesler United States Air Force Medical Center in Mississippi.
