NEA Baptist to Offer Free Heart Health Resources for Community

In the spirit of American Heart Month, NEA Baptist will be hosting the second annual Heart Day at NEA from 10 am – 1 pm in the clinic lobby of the NEA Baptist medical campus on Friday February 12, 2016 to help raise awareness about heart health in the community and to provide the resources that are needed to live a heart healthy lifestyle.
The free event will offer participants the opportunity to partake in Cardiovascular Disease Risk Screenings including a full lipid panel, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL, as well as glucose, blood pressure, BMI, heart rate and blood ox screenings.
In addition to offering free health screenings, Heart Day at NEA will also provide educational information on various heart health topics – including prevention, wellness, risk factors, symptoms, treatment and more. Each participant will receive a goody bag and be entered into the chance to win door prizes.
“Heart disease is the number one killer of both men and women in the United States. It is important that women take note of these statistics and take steps to protect their heart health,” said Paul Levy, MD, cardiovascular surgeon at NEA Baptist, “We should all be proactive about our heart health by knowing risk factors and altering our lifestyles to decrease these risks. Consciously making decisions to improve our heart health can also result in a healthier lifestyle and many more years to enjoy.”
