Jonesboro, Ark., July 21, 2015 – Joyce Clayton of Jonesboro has been selected among thousands of applicants as a finalist for the national 2015 Richard. L Swanson Inspiration Award through the Healthways SilverSneakers program. Clayton is a member of the NEA Baptist Clinic Wellnes Center and SilverSneakers program.

The winner of the national award will be determined through a voting system conducted on Facebook. A “Swanson Voting” tab can be found on the SilverSneakers official Facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/silversneakers. Clayton is one of 10 finalists from across the country. Voting is open on Facebook through August 7th and users are allotted one vote every 24 hours.  

“We have had several regional winners in the Richard L. Swanson Inspiration Awards the past few years but this is the first time that one of our own members has made it through to become a national finalist,” said Kara Fowler, program manager for SilverSneakers at NEA Baptist Clinic Wellness Center. “Joyce is very deserving of this award and we encourage our community to show support for her.”

The bio for Joyce on the voting pages states that, the gym is a place she can go to feel good about herself and make a difference in her overall well-being. Joyce exercises daily and enjoys the challenges that SilverSneakers classes provide, as well as the daily social interaction and support she receives from fellow members. Since her husband passed away two years ago, Joyce has made it her mission to stay in shape. Her children are proud of her for committing to a healthy lifestyle and thankful that, as a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, she is still able to attend the games.

The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is a nationwide program that includes a basic membership and a variety of classes to thousands of locations nationwide. SilverSneakers is available through Medicare health plans, Medicare Supplement carriers, and Group retiree plans. The Richard L. Swanson Inspiration Award honors a member of Healthways SilverSneakers Fitness Program whose healthy behavior has made a difference in his or her own life and has inspired others along the way. The award preserves the memory of SilverSneakers founder Mary Swanson's father, who served as the inspiration for his daughter to start the nationally acclaimed fitness program.
