NEA Baptist Offers New Outlet for Cancer Support
Dec 08, 2015

Jonesboro, Ark., December 8, 2015 – Patients and families who are dealing with the diagnosis of cancer now have a new outlet for support at NEA Baptist Fowler Family Center for Cancer Care. A quarterly support group will start meeting this Wednesday December 9 from 3 pm – 4 pm at the cancer center located on the NEA Baptist medical campus at 4800 E. Johnson Avenue.

Each quarterly support group meeting will have a specific focus that is beneficial to most patients and their families. The December focus is Nutritional Support and will feature Tina Harris, dietician at NEA Baptist, who will present nutritional information, samples recipes and high protein snacks. During the meeting, participants will also be able to share their favorite recipes and will be entered into a drawing for door prizes. A chaplain will conclude the meeting with prayer and an offer of personal spiritual support for anyone in need.

The new support group will also connect patients and families with other existing resources through NEA Baptist Charitable Foundation including Wellness Works and HopeCircle – which is housed in the cancer center. Other resources, such as an online support group, will allow for conversation and sharing among participants who choose to participate.

Future meeting dates and topics for 2016 include: February 24, Physical Therapy (presentations from NEA Baptist PT and NEA Baptist Clinic Wellness Center on ways to increase energy and options for home health PT) and May 2016, Art Therapy.

The group is open to anyone who would like to attend. Please call 870-936-7005 for additional information.
