Christian Community Health Clinic Meeting
Jul 08, 2010

The Christian Community Health Clinic will hold a public meeting on Monday, July 19; at the Holden Avenue Church of Christ to update the community on the progress begin made in the clinic, and to inform them of the services available to clients.

The Clinic, which opened in March, is open the last Thursday of each month from 5 until the last patient is seen, and serves residents 19-64 who do not have health insurance. Since opening its doors in March, the clinic has seen an average of 40 patients per month.

The clinic is staffed with community staff volunteers, doctors, pharmacists, and nurses. The clinic has also secured the services of an optometrist and dentists. “There are many people in our community that need our help, we need to be active servants of God and get involved,” said Chairman Ed Rodriguez. The clinic is located at 213 Cedar Street in a building owned by Umsted Memorial United Methodist Church.

The church has agreed to provide the facility rent free for the first year. Renovations were done by community volunteers from area churches. “We have had a lot of help from area churches who donated times, items, and money to get us up and running,” said Rodriguez. “We have come a long way but we need more community involvement and support.

The purpose of the community meeting is to let people see how far the clinic has come in its first four months of service and to layout the direction they are headed. “Everyone can help in some way, some have time to volunteer in the clinic on Clinic night or registration day, others are providing their services, and other are financial supporters. “If everyone will contribute something we can do great things,” said Rodriguez. The public is encouraged to come to the Community Meeting and learn about all the services offered by the Christian Community Health Clinic.
