Dr. Charles Coleman announces retirement
Aug 11, 2010
Dr. Charles Coleman, Director of the Technology Program and
instructor in Mechanical Engineering at Arkansas State University, has
retired from ASU July 12, 2010.
"It is a blessing that I worked at Arkansas State University for
19 years," said Dr. Coleman. "I will really miss the students. I have
enjoyed working with them."
During his time at Arkansas State, Coleman was instrumental in
helping to secure software grants for the university.
"Dr. Charles Coleman contributed selflessly to ASU for a number
of years and will be missed," said Dr. Dan Howard, interim Chancellor at
ASU.  "Among other things, Dr. Coleman was a positive role model,
inspiration, and advocate for our students. We wish him health,
happiness, and success in his new endeavors."
In addition to his work at ASU, Coleman is heavily involved in
community service, including currently serving on the Jonesboro School
Board, City Team Ministries Board, and the Jonesboro Transportation
Committee (NEAT). He is also a minister in Jonesboro after earning
Master of Theology and Doctorate of Ministry degrees in 2000.
"We want to thank Dr. Coleman for his years of outstanding
service to Arkansas State University as well as the community," said Dr.
Glen Jones, interim Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. "He has made
a difference in the lives of so many people and will be greatly missed.
"We wish him only the best as he begins a new chapter in his life."
