Emmy winner Pansy Hall to kick off R-TV Alumni Professional-in-Residence Series Sept. 15-16
Sep 13, 2010
Pansy Hall, a 1985 graduate of Arkansas State University and an Emmy award winning news producer, is the first of four distinguished alumni to return to campus as part of the ASU R-TV Alumni Professional-in-Residence Series. She will be on campus Sept. 16-15.
The series, started by the Department of Radio-Television in the spring of 2010, invites R-TV graduates who have excelled in their field to share their experiences with students and interact with faculty over a two-day period.
Hall is a news producer who currently works at the ABC/CW affiliate in Memphis, Tenn.  She graduated from ASU with a bachelor of science in Radio-Television and a minor in Computer Information Systems.  She is currently pursuing a master of science degree in Psychology from the University of Phoenix.
Hall won a regional Emmy in 2009 in Best Light Feature category for a story with FOX13 reporter Tom Dees and photojournalist Derric Curran.  The story was a "NAT" package about a barbecue restaurant owner who sold his wares on the CB radio.   Hall won the Emmy after she left WHBQ and went to work for WPTY/WLMT.
She began her television career at KAIT in Jonesboro in 1985, but soon left to pursue other interests.  After spending 14 years working various jobs including a long stint as an insurance claims adjuster, she found herself back at KAIT as a community liaison and eventually ended up in the newsroom again.  She has worked as a producer, assignment manager and web producer at several stations in the Mid-South and has spent the last eight years in the Memphis market, working at WREG, WHBQ and now at WPTY/WLMT.
A native of Northeast Arkansas, she grew up in Jackson County and is a 1981 graduate of Newport High School.  After spending several years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, she returned to Arkansas in the mid-1990's and never left.  She resides with her husband, Keith, and her daughter, Taylor, in Marion.  Keith is pursuing a doctorate in history from the University of Memphis and Taylor is a senior at Marion High School.   Her son, Terrence, is 21 years old and lives in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he works and attends college.
