Applicants now total 17; Committee to meet Oct. 28
Oct 08, 2010

The pool of candidates for president of Arkansas State University now includes 17 people, as the Presidential Search Advisory Committee received two new applications during the past week.

The most recent applicants are from:

-- Steven R. Hoagland of Bolivar, Ohio, formerly director of institutional research and assessment, Myers University in Cleveland.

-- Steven T. Petty of Springfield, Mo., economist and senior research analyst for Pension Consultants, Inc., in Springfield.

Mrs. Florine Tousant Milligan, chair of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, notified committee members Thursday (copy of memo is attached) that the next meeting of the committee will be Thursday, Oct. 28.  At that time, the committee will review any applications received since the last meeting, on Sept. 30, and decide which candidates to suggest to the Board of Trustees for interviews.

She also said that the Board of Trustees will meet on Friday, Oct. 29, to consider the committee’s comments and to review all applications submitted, then select which candidates to invite for interviews.  She expects the Board to conduct the interviews on Monday and/or Tuesday, Nov. 8 and 9.  Each candidate who comes for an interview will be asked first to publicly address the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, then respond to questions from members of the committee.  Afterward, the Board members will interview each candidate in executive session.

Information on nominating a qualified individual or submitting an application, along with a description of the ASU System and the position announcement, is available on the Arkansas State University Presidential Search website,http://presidentialsearch.asusystem.edu.
