![]() To Tone, or Not to Tone?
As promised, here is the first of several updates on how the Occasions staff is faring with the various As-Seen-On-TV gadgets that we decided to start out our New Year with. Unfortunately, I (Audrey Hanes) chose the Thigh Toner, and it didn't take me long to realize that the "maximum comfort" it claimed to have wasn't exactly accurate. Although the concept of resistance training that the Toner employs is tried-and-true, it’s hard to tone your thighs (or butt, or arms, or shoulders) if the gadget won’t stay in place very well. After almost every rep, I have to stop and readjust. I can’t even properly do one of the exercises, which claims to work your butt, because when I put the Thigh Toner in the crook of my knee – exactly like the diagram shows – my legs aren’t long enough to compress it. Plus, as I learned firsthand over the holidays, it's hard to explain to friends and family why you’re packing a Thigh Toner in your suitcase. I haven’t completely given up on Bally Total Fitness’ Thigh Toner, but as of today, I’m thinking we should have saved the $12.99 we spent on Amazon.com for the contraption and just walked up the stairs instead. Check back next week to see how Lori feels about her Belly Burner. [+] add comment |
