Malco Theatres is taking another step towards seeing more green in 2011.  The theater chain is now offering recycling containers for cans and bottles, an initiative that is leading other theater circuits across the country.

The recycling bins are located inside theater lobbies. “We are conscious and aware of the need to reduce waste. This is just another opportunity for Malco Theatres and our customers to work towards eliminating our carbon footprint,” said Larry Etter, senior vice president of concessions.

In 2008, Malco Theatres was the first theater circuit in the country to “go green” with the introduction of new environmentally-friendly popcorn bags and for the past 13 years the company has recycled film trailers into collectible bows as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Malco Theatres is headquartered in Memphis and is fourth-generation family-owned and operated. Malco operates more than 300 screens in 30 locations across the mid-south.
