Go Red for Women Today
Feb 04, 2011

By now, most of you have probably had your morning coffee, gotten dressed and have headed out to conquer the day. Hopefully, your morning routine also included putting on something red (it is “National Wear Red Day,” after all), but in case it didn't, here's why you should go home and change into something red during your lunch break:

*February is American Heart Month, and since 2004, the first Friday of February has been designated by The American Heart Association as a day to “Go Red for Women.”
*Heart disease is the number one cause of death among women 20 and older, killing one woman about every minute.
*More women die of heart disease than the next four causes of death combined, including all forms of cancer.
*Ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease.
*More than 82 million American adults are estimated to have one or more types of  ardiovascular disease. That’s one in every three people.
*On average, 2,200 Americans die of cardiovascular disease each day, an average of one death every 39 seconds.

Please, spread awareness by wearing red today. If you want to score some red and help the American Heart Association at the same time, head here.
