Welcome to From The Fringe - a local golf blog that will give you useful information on Jonesboro area golf happenings.

Here, you will be able to find information on upcoming golf tournaments, results from recent golf tournaments, tips from some of the city's local golf pros, opinions on the latest golf equipment, information on deals from local golf retailers and some opinions on the pro happenings as well.

First, let me provide a little background. I chose From The Fringe as the name for this blog mainly because I find myself playing from the fringe quite often. At times my shots are too short and can't quite reach the green. At other times, I select a club that was simply more than I needed and I roll through the green. I'm sure some of you can relate.

Fringe also describes the way I view golf ... from outside of the norm. I love the game. I would love to be better at the game, but I try to find a little humor in my game, as well as the game of golf itself.

I will try to get out and play as much as possible to provide updates on course conditions around the area. I'll even share with you some of my more "hacker" moments (snowman on a Par 5, how many balls I lost, etc). I'll also entertain some of YOUR stories on local courses, as well. Oh, and if you’re lucky enough to win a tournament, email me a photo of you and your team holding the trophy so we can post it.

I will also try to record all aces scored in the area, so make sure you fill out all the paperwork in the pro shop when you hit one. In the meantime, I'll still be chasing my first hole-in-one.

So, let winter come and go, but when the first decent day comes around, get out there and hit 'em long and straight.
