Welcome to this week's From The Fringe! I hope everyone got a chance to check out last week's blog. It featured a golf Q&A with Mark Young, Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. Thanks again, Mark, for working with us! I hope to feature many local golfers in this weekly blog so don't hesitate to send me an email if you know someone who simply lives to play the game.

For those of you that were asleep last weekend, there was quite a surprise at the conclusion of the 2011 Master's. South African Charl Schwartzel ended up winning the 75th Masters, which is quite a story in itself. Also headlining the tournament was Tiger Woods' finish. There were a lot of folks that didn't think he had any fight left in him but he ended up in fourth place! Maybe the tides are changing in professional golf ....

And speaking of changes, I am getting very close to ending my time in Oklahoma City. Within the next two weeks, I will be 1) quitting my job of 17 years; 2) getting married to Occasions Publisher Audrey Watkins; and 3) moving to Jonesboro. Most folks do these things one at a time, but not me!!!

Before all of those major transitions get under way, however, I am going to hit the course with my old golfing buddies for a final farewell outing here in Oklahoma City. Thanks in advance, Okie golfers, for sending me off right.

In a few weeks, I will be in Jonesboro full time so get ready for as many local golf stories as you can handle. I hope to see you all on the links soon!
