 Join the Out of the Dark Movement By now you should know that Arkansas has one of the worst teen (12 to 20) prescription narcotic abuse problems in the entire United States and Craighead County’s rates are above state level with most of them getting the pills out of home medicine cabinets just like yours. However here are a couple facts you may not be aware of:A five month Associated Press 2008 investigation revealed that there were traces of prescription drugs in drinking water in 24 Major U.S. Regions affecting at least 41 million Americans.Traces of pharmaceuticals and PCPs (personal care products) have been detected in water quality testing of Arkansas streams. The drugs in our streams have been shown to disrupt normal fish reproduction, slow development in amphibians, and cause other impacts throughout the food chain. You can help us make our community a better place to live by joining the “Got Drugs?” Craighead County Prescription Drug campaign which has been set for this Saturday, April 30th from 10 am to 2 pm at locations in Jonesboro, Lake City and Bay.
