Local Businesses Raise Money for City Youth
May 25, 2011

Medic One and Construction Network Inc., recently teamed up to raise funds for City Youth Ministries in Jonesboro. Every year, the two companies have neighboring booths at the Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, this year the two companies found a greater use for their space by joining forces to sell t-shirts at the event and raise money for City Youth. Both CNI and Medic One hope their idea to use creative ways to help local non-profits will show as an example to other businesses who will be encouraged to go and look for ways that they too can give to area non-profits. Representatives from both CNI and Medic One presented the donation to City Youth director Rennell Woods on Wednesday; Woods was honored and explained how the funds would be put to good use within the ministry.

City Youth Ministries provides a safe place for Jonesboro’s at risk youth to come and receive help with homework, tutoring, life skills, and overall helps them build relationships with mentors that will teach them how to be successful in life and give back to the community. There are numerous, non-profit organizations throughout Northeast Arkansas and it is easy to find a need to contribute to.

Paula Robertson, United Way community impact coordinator, stated that “overall pledges for non-profits are down considerably and with donations every little bit adds up.”

Medic One Emergency Medical Service operates in Craighead, Poinsett, Lawrence and Randolph counties in Arkansas, and Dunklin County Missouri. The company offers emergency and non-emergency ambulance service, wheelchair van transportation and educational services. Construction Network, Inc. is a commercial construction company operating in the Southeastern United States; housed in Jonesboro, the company has an impressive project history which includes the construction of worship facilities, schools, medical offices, restaurants and financial institutions. Medic One and Construction Network, Inc. plan to partner on similar donation projects in the future and hope to push other businesses to also give of their time and money to the many deserving non-profits in the area.
