Little Hands are Ready for Easter with Empty Tomb Rolls
Apr 04, 2012

This Sunday is Easter! Are you ready? Will you be having a family gathering that day, or big breakfast? For us, the morning can seem a tad rushed. My husband is the guitarist in our church's worship band, so he'll be gone by the time the girls are up that morning and won't be home until after a third service. Because of this, we're doing our family get together in the afternoon and that morning, a simple breakfast of Empty Tomb rolls. What's that you ask? Well, it's homemade yeast rolls, in this house that means Great Value buttermilk biscuits, that are sweetened with a marshmallow that melts into the biscuit.

To make them, you simply flatten your rolls, roll a marshmallow in melted butter and then a cinnamon sugar mix, and put it in the middle of the roll. Seal the roll all around the roll, just as Jesus was sealed in His tomb. Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes. Once you open these sweet rolls up, they are empty inside, just as the tomb was Easter morning! They're a fun and simple reminder of what the day is really about, and easy for me to do alone with the girls in the midst of dresses and hairbows even. Little Hands helped seal ours, so they weren't completely sealed and the marshmallows leaked out a bit, but they still tasted just as good and worked just fine. Happy Easter!

Until next time,
Heather
