Food Drive at ASU Men's Basketball Game on Nov. 6 Students enrolled in the Global Business class at Arkansas State are planning to have 10,000 reasons to help serve the community by collecting that many cans of food for the Northeast Arkansas Food Bank next week. The students in the class, which is part of the First Year Experience program, are hosting a canned food drive, Tuesday, Nov. 6, in conjunction with the Red Wolves men's exhibition basketball game with Henderson State. Anyone who brings three cans of food may be admitted to the game for $5. Tipoff is 7:05 p.m. in the Convocation Center. "These students want to be a part of something that will benefit the community and make a difference,"said Dr. Clint Relyea, associate professor of Management and coordinator of the International Business Degree Program at ASU. "What better way is there to serve than to collect 10,000 cans of food which will help feed northeast Arkansas residents and help support theNEA Food Bank?" Dr. Relyea noted that all donations will be accepted, but specific needs include peanut butter, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna, meats, canned vegetables, canned fruits, soups and stews. The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, established in 1983, works to eliminate hunger by distributing food to people in need through a network of non-profit agencies and programs. [+] add comment |
