Little Hands: Summer Bucket List
Jun 20, 2013

I have a love/hate relationship with time lately. When you're a stay at home mom, sometimes, days drag by while weeks and months fly. I'm not really sure how that happens, but it does. Lately, nothing has been dragging. Spring flew in bursting with color and fun. We made a bucket list for the season, visited the farmer's market, planted flowers and herbs, and checked boxes off the list. At some point, I must have blinked too long, because all of a sudden, here we are in the second half of June. I'm four weeks away from my due date and this Friday the 21st is the Summer Solstice!

I really love celebrating the solstices and equinoxes. In this area and all the farmers, we are constantly reminded of how much we rely on seasons and weather. I love that before we can ever get too bored or too overwhelmed with the same season, God is already working in a new one. So we celebrate these changes as much as we possibly can. I've been brainstorming for weeks now on how the girls and I will celebrate that day, but one way was certain, we needed a brand new bucket list. Our list is simple without big trips or long events since our family will be growing in size soon, so you can use our list for your own, or create one catered to your family and the ages of your children. I included some things I knew for sure would happen like sparklers and running through sprinklers, but some things are so simple to me but mean so much to the girls that I made sure to mark them down. Those things looked more like watching a movie in mommy and daddy's bed, watch a sunset, and catch fireflies. The view of summer through a child's eyes is so much sweeter and you don't want to miss that, so sit down with the kiddos this week and make your bucket list together! It's an excellent way not to let too much time slip past you in a busy season without stopping periodically to enjoy it.

Unfortunately, I am low-tech and as much as I try, I can not switch my document file to a jpeg (picture) for this post with it still looking good enough for you to print it out if you'd like. So, I'll leave you with another picture from a post a couple of years ago of our watermelon fairy house, and I'll post the document of the bucket list on the Jonesboro Occasions facebook page! You can just go there to print it off, or use my ideas and make your own!

Our list: Catch fireflies, Pick berries, Make smores, Watch a sunset, Make ice cream, make a watermelon fairy house, Run through sprinklers, Go bowling, Movie in mommy and daddy's bed, Stargaze, Ice cream floats, Sparklers, Make friendship bracelets, Make lemonade, Banana splits

Until next time,

Heather
