Freedom & Fireworks on the Fourth
Jul 01, 2013

The fourth is rolling around pretty quick and for those of you out there looking for a fun-filled day of celebration, there are a few places worth checking out whether you want to stay in Jonesboro or take a mini roadtrip.

Freedom Fest is a great display for your Fourth of July entertainment and is sponsored by KAIT and Jonesboro Radio Group. This display is free and open to the public, and it features the biggest firework presentation in Jonesboro. This year, Freedom Fest sets an all new standard with thousands of digitally fired pyrotechnics with a mind blowing opening barrage, endless displays, grand illuminations and a colossal grand finale! There will be concessions and restrooms on site. The festivities start at 9:30 Thursday night at the Southside softball complex on Stadium Blvd. in Jonesboro. Come out early and get a good spot to see the show!

Another event to check out is the 4th in the Forest Music Festival, which will be held at Craighead Forest Park on Monday and is sponsored by 101.7 KISS FM and Central Chevrolet-Cadillac. This is an all day event hosting headliner country artist Trent Tomlinson as well as live wrestling featuring “Superstar” Bill Dundee, Grandmaster Sexay Brian Christopher, Brandon Baxter, and Derrick King. This year will feature a carnival with games and rides for the whole family and a children’s fishing derby. One lucky attendee will win $2,000 in Summertime Kiss Cash and have a chance to win a brand new Chevy Silverado pickup truck. Entertainment for the whole family, and it’s only $10 a car load. Load up your friends and family and enjoy 4th in the Forest at Craighead Forest Park! Oh, and don’t forget to bring plenty of bug spray.

If you’re looking for a quick trip somewhere for some fun, Piggott is a little over an hour away and holds an event they call their Fourth of July Picnic. This year celebrate the 85th Annual 4th of July Homecoming Picnic beginning with a parade at 9 a.m., live music will follow, carnival rides, great food, and spectacular fireworks will be featured throughout the evening. With food, rides and games, there is something fun for everyone!

Whatever you decide to do this fourth, have fun and be responsible. Happy Fourth, everyone!
