Animal rescue shelters need our help now more than ever.

This Saturday, Jan. 11, from 1-4 p.m., Arkansas Angels for Animals is collecting beds for pets in pounds and shelters in some of the rural areas surrounding Jonesboro. The organization helps supply shelters and pounds with beds if they don't have them already.

Tarps, dog food, beds, blankets and other pet supplies are all welcome. If you would rather buy a bed outright, you can make a donation for $22.50.

"Pets need to get up off that concrete, especially with this cold spell," said organizer Angie Heringer.

The organization has collected 130 beds so far and hopes to receive either pet bed donations or the funding for many more at Saturday's 911 on 1/11 event.
